This wipes info for all printers from the Mac. As a last resort, I tried resetting the printer setup in System Preferences. Tried installing latest driver from Brother. Re-ran wireless setup on the printer (it successfully connects to my network). I ran the gamut of tech support solutions from Apple and Brother. (Maybe related to latest MacOS update, 11.5.1?). A few days ago, my Brother laser printer (in my office) could not be found to print on it. They’ve both been working fine on my current WiFi network for well over a year. I’ve been using two printers, one in my LR, one in my office. I almost never need to ask for help to solve problems, but this one has me baffled. I’ve been using Macs since 1985, and spent my pre-retirement years working as a programmer, instructor, and system managers. Printers not showing on Print Preferences As requested elsewhere I'm starting a new thread. What should I do? The Pro is my main computer and it's super annoying! I'm a law student, printing is essential! (Side rant: It's not like Apple makes printers, I don't know why this happens with third party hardware every time Apple updates its OS.) Interestingly, I also have a Macbook Air running Big Sur 11.2.3 and a slightly older driver (Epson 10.62) and it works fine.for now, as does AirPrinting from my iPhone or iPad. Reconnected the printer to the network, that's all working fine Tried using a generic driver and Gutenprint Tried to add the printer using its IP address instead of Bonjour Reinstalled the latest drivers (Epson 10.85 - which now crashes before installation is complete - I have the error log if that helps anyone) Removing and attempting to re-add the printer in System Preferences (I get an "Unable to verify printer on the network due to an error" message, and if I continue anyway, I get "Unable to communicate with printer at this time") Restarting Mac, router and printer including in safe mode I have been through every trouble shooting step there is to add it back: Suddenly, my Epson ET-2750 printer disappeared. Recently I upgraded to Big Sur 11.5.2 on my 2019 Macbook Pro. All connections produce the same resultsĦ) I've updated the firmware on all the printers.Ĭan't print to Epson ET-2750 on Big Sur 11.5.2 I am going insane over this. If I select "Other" to try and manually add the driver, the driver is "greyed" out in the finder and I'm unable to select it.ġ) Reset the print system (removing the other 4 printers on the network)ġa) can't add any of the printers (Brother DCP-9040CN, Brother HL-2270DW, Sawgrass SG800 (OEM brand of Rioch or EPSON for textile industry), HP Officejet 7610, EPSON Stylus Pro 4880).Ģ) Removed all old drivers from /Library/Printers/ģ) Downloaded and installed new drivers from manufacturerĤ) Run "updatesoftware -list" in Terminal (no updates found)ĥ) I've tried connecting directly, wirelessly, and over our network. If the printer is not recognized, if I choose "select driver" from the drop down, the driver list is completely empty. If the printer is "recognized" it will list the proper driver but return an error after a few seconds after I click "ADD" My co-worker who is running the exact same system, connected to the same network, is not having this problem.įrom Printer/Scanner in Preferences I can see all the printers when I click "+". I have not been able to re-add the printer. I removed a network printer (EPSON STYLUS PRO 4880) to fix some issues I was having with the print queue. Then "whola !" I discovered these drivers upon which I happily got rid of those old pieces of junk and feel quite certain that I will never have to revisit this nonsense ever again.I can't add any printers to Macbook Pro. Out of sheer frustration, I came SOOOOO close today to scrapping my whole updated system in favor of reverting to my OSX 10.5.6 (of which I had absolutely no issues printing at all once I spent a few days finagling and coercing it to work from the previous update) system backup because this time around I just could not get them to work in OSX 10.5.7. In these tough economic times (in case anyone has forgotten), WHY in tarnation should I have to run out and buy a new printer when mine works perfectly fine if/when/ever the system drivers will operate correctly. I grew SOOOOO dag gone sick and tired of having to finagle and coerce the system drivers to work each and every time I updated to the newest version of OSX 10.5 (10.5.7 this time around). I still own/use a very reliable Epson Printer I bought brand new in 1997.
